Why Do Eyelash Extensions Lose their Curl?

Ever wonder why?

If your lash extensions looked drop-dead-gorgeous in the salon but lost their curls after a few days, your lifestyle could possibly may be the culprit. Eyelash extensions lose their curls from natural wear-and-tear to heat and a few other reasons. While, they should maintain their curl –  there just might be a few exceptions that could play a major part in the loss of curl.

Material: Oftentimes when eyelash extensions are  made from inexpensive or not high quality materials, they can lose their preset curl and become straight.

Overheating: Cooking over high heat on the stove, grill, and oven can de-curl your lash extensions or even singe them. An overly hot shower can also de-curl your lashes.  Eyelash extensions are made from a fiber called PBT that loses its shape when overheated.

Don’t rush in to open the microwave oven when you’re wearing lash extensions. Also, avoid blow-drying the hair too close to your eyelash extensions, especially on the hot air setting. You should also avoid saunas for a long period of time.

Sleeping improperly: Rough pillowcases and burying your face in the pillow will flatten your beautiful lash extensions. This can not only damage your lashes – you can may lose them prematurely. I always recommend using a satin or silk pillowcase to minimize the amount of friction while you sleep. You can also sleep on your back rather than on your stomach, which I know is so much easier said than done!

Lack of regular cleaning: When you fail to clean your lash extensions frequently, especially if you wear oil-based makeup, there are chances your extensions may clump together with dirt, oil, and grime…which is no good.  Failing to clean your lashes can not only result in the loss of curl, it can also cause an infection and no one wants that.
